ICT has been established in October 2012 as the one of the strategic component in achieving the vision 2025 MDG, and different social economic reform programmes (PSRP, LGRP and NSGRP).
In highlighting these, the government recognizes the importance of effectively utilizing ICT towards sustainable development. This initiative is also a part of the PMORALG long-term plans to develop an ICT in Local Government Authorities.
Remarkable steps have been archived in implementing this objective, several targets have been established and numerous activities are implemented and completed. These targets are the ones that form the functions and responsibilities of the Information and Communication Technology Unit.
All matters concerned to ICT Unit are managed by the head of Information and Communication Officer (HoICT).
ICT Unit is responsible for:-
Designing, Developing and making use of ICT Systems ;
Developing ICT policies and standards;
Proving Technical Support and Repair;
Implementing security measures in IT Systems within Organization;
